SCRIPTS FOR VEGAS PRO

Note: These scripts will open up in your web browser. You can simply select all the code, copy it, then paste it into a text editor such as Word Pad or even a program like Expression Web. You can then rename the file whatever you want, but be sure to save it with the .js extension. From there, you can transfer the file to your Script Menu folder in Vegas Pro. If you open the script, use the back arrow on your browser to return to this page.

CAMERA SHAKE

If you want to add a touch of realism to your FX shots, which are usually locked-down shots taken from a tripod, you can add a little camera shake. If you are working within Adobe Premiere Pro, you can download some presets for that here.

If you are working in Vegas Pro, you can download this .veg file and some camera-shake keyframes have already been laid down for you. To use, simply open the .veg file in Vegas Pro and add your footage to Track 1. If you wish to extend the shake beyond 10 seconds, then go into Motion Tracking and copy and paste the keyframes to any length you want.

It seems incredibly paradoxical that most of us strive to get stable and smooth imagery, but when you want to sell a special effect, you want to add as much realism as possible. And in that case, adding a touch of camera shake gives the appearance of the scene having been shot handheld, and in turn, that conveys a sense of a real camera with a real camera operator shooting in real time. And such is the world of filmmaking. It is all a manipulation in the deepest psychological sense of the word.
